SMITH, Glenda Thornton, age 77 was born on December 17, 1933 and passed away on February 27, 2011. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Ottie Lee Thorton, one brother; Alton Thorton and sisters, Myrtle Murray, Helen Wesley, Audrey Freeman and Grace Scruggs. Cherishing her memory is her husband of 56 years Walter A. Smith; two daughters, Mona (Bobby) Anderson and Debra Lamberth, two sisters, Jessie Lee and Edna Etheridge; five grandchildren, Misty (Nathan) Ashby, Heather (Randy) Goins, Gary Lamberth Jr., Amy (Jason) Fryer, and Keri (Nick) Harville, along with six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Glenda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She taught all she came in contact with how to love, laugh, and live life to the fullest. She was an avid sports fan, runner and was passionate about ministry to the senior adults. Even in her illness she always had a smile and shared that with everyone she met, and touched the hearts of many. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 10:00 am, with visitation Monday from 3:00-8:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
