WHITAKER, HARVEY PAUL, age 95, born June 8, 1916 and passed away on August 8, 2011. Born in Cookeville, TN – last surviving child of John Morgan and Lorittie Whitaker. Preceded by wife of 63 years, Mildred Murphy as well as 11 brothers and sisters. He is survived by 2 devoted daughters; Carole Davis, Nashville and Margaret (Kyle) Abshire, Orange Park, Florida; his 2 loving grand-daughters, Penny (Randy) Pryor and Julie (Eric) Wilson and the light of his life 2 great-grandchildren whom he adored Mickey Sharer and Rachel Wilson. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and enjoyed reuniting with his military buddies for years until his health prevented him from traveling. He also was employed by Rohrbach-Hill & Millers Hospital as well as co-owner of D&W Exxon. Harvey was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church and currently Dickerson Road Baptist Church. His family and friends celebrated his 95th birthday in June much to his surprise. Funeral service will be conducted by Brother Mike Fisher and Randy Pryor on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 1:00 pm, with visitation Wednesday from 2:00 – 8:00 pm, and 2 hours prior to service on Thursday at Forest Lawn.
