Irene E. Gregory, age 97, went home February 23, 2014.
She was born July 8, 1916 to the late Bub and Dollie Doss. Also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Lestus Gregory; daughter-in-law, Sara Wilson Gregory.
Irene is survived by son, Jerry E. (Nancy) Gregory; devoted and faithful grandaughters, Donna M. (Mike) Cothern and Kimberly G. (Keith) Brown; grandson, John Wesley Gregory; greatgrandchildren, Daniel (Melody) Cothern, Britney (Nathan) McVay, Lesley Cothern and Aaron Blackwell; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mamie Rulene Woodcock.
Irene or Mom as everyone called her, was a faithful and loving wife. A cheerful and fun loving mother and grandmother. She retired from Genesco in 1976 with 30 years service. After retirement, Irene and Les spent their summers in Nashville and winters with their many friends in Ft. Myers Beach, FL. Both were faithful members of Rosebank Church of Christ.
A celebration of Mom's life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Forest Lawn Chapel, with Brother David Royalty officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m.
