Jimmy was born January 20, 1947 to Otis Edward Gayle and Katherine Lemley Gayle.
Preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Thomas Lemley Gayle.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Judy Gayle, nieces and nephews, Andrea (Rik) Gayle Hess and Amanda (Derek) Gayle Salter, Tony (Dana) Lewis, Andy (Melissa) Lewis, and Anitra Lewis. He had several great nieces and nephews, and cousins. His very dear friend, Brenda Lane and her two children, Michael and Kirstie. Jimmy had wonderful neighbors who checked on him daily.
Jimmy graduated Stratford High School in 1966 where he was passionate about football. He also attended Austin Peay where he played football. He was a very active member of the YMCA.
Jimmy was an original member of the Corvette Club. He owned several Corvettes through the years, even winning the People’s Choice Award for one of his Corvettes.
Jimmy was an inventor. He had ideas and visions that others did not have. He was ahead of his time with some of those visions but that is what made him successful and unique.
He worked for NASCAR and was instrumental at helping to level the playing field for all NASCAR races with the invention of the restrictor plate. Jimmy was the owner of Gayle Technology Inc.
Jimmy brought joy and laughter to all those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
