He attended the Nashville Auto Diesel College and worked for Hippodrome Oldsmobile.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pauletta Bennett Goodwin; daughter, Kathy (Russell Carter) Goodwin; son, James Neil (Andrea) Goodwin, II; grandson, Jacob Goodwin; sister, Carol Pitts; brother, Steve (Elaine) Goodwin.
Graveside services with military honors provided by the Tennessee Honor Guard will be conducted 10:30 Saturday morning Mary 11, 2013 in Forest Lawn Memorial Garden 1150 South Dickerson Rd. Goodlettsville, TN 37072
