James Thomas Toombs

James (Jimmy) Thomas Toombs, of Hermitage, TN. passed away at the age of 83 on Saturday, December 6, 2025, with his family surrounding him. He was born Tuesday, March 24, 1942 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Jimmy is survived by son, Tony Toombs; grandson, Tucker Fox; granddaughter, Abigial West and great-grandson, James Ryan Fox; sister, Joyce Marie Wise; sister-in-laws, Ruth Toombs, Esther Toombs and Teresa (Chip) Parsons. Jimmy also leaves behind several nephews and nieces.

Jimmy was preceded in death by wife, Wanda Toombs; daughter, Jill West; parents, Carlton and Maggie Toombs; sister, Doris Jones; brothers, Wayne Toombs, Charlie Toombs and Carl Toombs.

Jimmy retired from The Dupont Plant.

Before his health decline, Jimmy was very active in Hendersonville Free Will Baptist Church where he was a member for over 45 years. He served as Chairman of Deacons, Deacon, Lead Singing and involved in what was needed to do in The Lord’s House. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be Monday, December 15, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Funeral Home 1150 S Dickerson Pike, Goodlettsville, Tennessee.

Entombment will occur at Woodlawn Memorial Park in the Cross Mausoleum 660 Thompson Lane Nashville, Tennessee 37204.
