Jean Whitehead

Jean, second daughter of R.T. Garrett Whitehead and Nellie Mae Pinkerton Whitehead, was born in 1932. She lived in Madison, TN most all of her life, attended Stratton Elementary School and graduated from Isaac Litton High School, class of 1951. After graduation, Jean began her career at National Life and Accident Insurance Company, now known as American General. She retired from the company in 1996.

A devout Christian, Jean accepted Christ into her heart as a young child. She was faithful to her church, Madison Heights Baptist Church in Madison, TN, serving as church pianist for quite a while, then as a faithful choir member and soloist. She taught Sunday-school classes and served on various committees within the church. Jean provided transportation for those who needed it for many years. Devoted to her family, Jean was the most caring person and her kindness brought us joy and happiness. We will miss her dearly, but we will treasure our precious memories of Jean.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents R.T. and Nellie Whitehead, and one brother-in-law W.C. "Dub" Huffine. She is survived by two sisters, Doris Whitehead Huffine of Greenbrier, TN and Faye Whitehead Swift (Bobby) of White House, TN and one brother, Robert Whitehead (Jolane) of Hendersonville, TN.

Other survivors include one nephew, Kevin Whitehead (Kelly) of Marietta, GA; three nieces, Karen Swift Hunter (Mark) of Knoxville, TN, Kelly Swift Dean (Kenneth) of Drummonds, TN and Ginger Swift Sweeten (Lee) of Springfield, TN; six great nieces, six great-nephews and two great-great nieces, all of whom she treated with much love and generosity. Jean loved spoiling all the babies in her family and is loved by all of them in return.

The Whitehead family have been blessed beyond measure to have had Jean in our lives and many relatives and friends feel the same way. Thank you God for Jean!

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 12pm -2pm, and a funeral chapel service officiated by pastor Ray Marin to begin at 2pm, and burial to follow, all at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1150 S. Dickerson Pike Rd., Goodlettsville, TN.
