Joann Mason

Joann Mason, affectionately known as Mema, was born on April 7th 1934 in Madison, TN. She left this world on January 23rd, 2021 at her home in Portland, TN. She leaves behind her husband of 51 years, Wayne Mason. A sister, Linda Markham. A daughter, Patricia Robinson. A son, Eddie Haddock. Four grandchildren, Todd Heath, Brandon Denning, Amanda Haddock and Nikki Haddock. We all loved her and will miss her tremendously.

In Mema’s younger days she enjoyed traveling the country with her older brother Bubba and sisters Ruby and Pauline. She loved to go square dancing. She went to the Church of Christ and would sing gospel music, oftentimes singing harmony with her younger sister Linda. Mema was also an avid yodeler.

Later in life, Mema’s love and dedication to her children and grandchildren was unwavering. She would do anything within her power to help them out. Outside of her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed watching WWE, NASCAR, baseball and football.

Mema was preceded in death by her parents William H. Ellis Sr. and Annie Ellis. Brothers Clyde Nunley, James Ellis and William H. “Bubba” Ellis Jr. Sisters Ruby Sloan and Pauline Squires.
