Kenny Morrow didn’t meet a stranger. If he did meet someone new, he for sure would try to figure out how he knew you and find some connection in his mind. He also loved to tell complete strangers about his family that he dearly loved. He would be quick to tell you how many years he had been married to the love of his life, Kim Roy Morrow. Of course he was a true fisherman/hunter and did stretch the truth a bit. He loved telling people he had been married 35 years even months in advance of their upcoming 35th anniversary on September 3. He was also quick to share how proud he was of his daughter Danielle and her husband Sam Williams. But none of that compared to his granddaughter Bryce who changed his world the first time her Papa saw her. Kenny clearly placed family above everything else.
Kenny was born in Batesville, Mississippi on August 4, 1958. He, along with his older brother Carl and his younger sister Denise, learned from their parents, Pat & LJ Morrow, how important it was to love God and love their family. He moved to Nashville in 1980 to attend Nashville Auto Diesel College. His new landlord recommended he visit Eastland Baptist Church, where he would meet Kim. Even after the move from the hometown he loved, Kenny always enjoyed keeping in touch with all of his aunts, uncles and numerous cousins no matter the distance or time apart. His extended family stretches from Oregon to Missouri and from New York to Louisiana.
Kenny started hunting and fishing early and always loved to go hunt with his best friend and brother, Carl. When Carl was older Kenny bought him an automatic shotgun so it would be easier for him to shoot a deer. He always loved to share his love of hunting and fishing with others as well as all of his tall tales of “5 foot turkeys” or the “biggest buck” that got away. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kenny’s memory to the Young Guns program through the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation. This program allows youth with special needs to participate in one of Kenny’s favorite activities, hunting. Donations can be made online at: https://www.twrf.net/young-guns-special-needs-youth-hunt/
The family has been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support over the last few days including those that were there within mere hours of the news. There was no better way to honor the man we all loved than for you to be there when we needed it the most. We cannot thank you enough.
A Celebration of Kenny's life will be held at 3pm Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Gary Goodwin, Dr. Fred EA Johnson and Tim Shields officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4pm until 8pm and Wednesday from 1pm until 3pm at the funeral home.
