She was born Laura Frances Roake on November 24, 1934. She married Douglas Lee Allen on January 1, 1953. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her sister, three of her children and two great-grandchildren.
Frances Allen was mother to eight children, 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was aunt to many nieces and nephews, as well.
Frances worked one year at Aladdin Lamp company here in Nashville and left to get married, after which she was a stay-at-home mother. She was raised in the Church of Christ and although she was not a member, she became associated with Jackson Park Church of Christ, where they accepted her as family, prayed for her regularly, and visited with her at her home.
Sherry and | had the opportunity have visits with Frances, and I know she was always glad to get the homemade bread we would often bring to her and then to talk and catch up on things. She told us about her mother taking her and her brother and sister to the church on Buchanan Street in north Nashville that was at the end of the street they lived on. She loved the Lord all her 91 years of life. If you asked her about the secret of her long life, she would say. "HE gave it to me."
