Margie Nell Rowland Moore

Margie Nell Moore, 96, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life spectacularly well-lived. Born on February 26, 1930, in Akron, Ohio, to Margaret and Cecil Rowland, Margie was easily liked, highly sociable, and the immediate favorite among many doting aunts and uncles. She grew up to become a woman who defied the ordinary, leaving behind a legacy as vast as her adventures and a family that absolutely adored her.

Margie was, above all things, a truly cool lady—always calm and collected. She served her community with pride as a deputy sheriff, demonstrating the same grit and determination that she carried into every chapter of her life. She even appeared on the television show "What's My Line?" and stumped the panel because this 5'0" petite beauty looked nothing like a traditional deputy sheriff.

An adventurous spirit, she mastered the art of the fresh start, moving 17 times throughout her life, including relocations to foreign lands. No matter where she landed, she turned houses into warm, welcoming homes and strangers into lifelong friends.

She was deeply sociable, friendly, and liked by absolutely everyone who crossed her path. A legendary hostess, Margie’s parties were famous, fueled by her talent as a great cook and her effortless ability to make everyone feel comfortable. When she wasn't hosting, she was living life to the absolute fullest. She was a fierce scratch golfer who could outplay the best of them, incredibly lucky at cards, a dedicated bingo player, a tireless jigsaw puzzler, a voracious reader, a master gardener, and an avid sports fan who never missed a game. Through it all, her strong faith guided her as a devoted churchgoer who walked through life with a deeply charitable heart. She helped found the King's Daughters Day Home and supported it throughout her life, impacting the lives of countless children.

While she was a woman of many talents, her true masterpiece was her family. She lived entirely for her four children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was our anchor, our biggest cheerleader, always concerned for our welfare, and genuinely the most caring person in the room. If we ever stepped out of line, she also had her famous "stink eye" to let us know. Her fierce love lives on in her family: Jennifer Struble (Paul), Melinda Fernandez, James Moore (Gail), Rebecca Robinson, Matthew Struble (Karima), Sarah Anderson (Brian), Derick Fernandez (Barbara), Ashley Moore, Emma Anderson, and Jeffrey Fernandez (Kelsey). In her later years, Felicity "Fefe" Heidekker became a cherished member of our family, providing Margie with loving companionship and vital, devoted care.

Margie was so well-liked by everyone she met, so kind to others, and so willing to lend a helping hand. She touched so many lives without even knowing it, leaving the world brighter, more vibrant, and infinitely more loved.

Margie is now joyfully reunited with her soulmate and husband of 59 years, LaVerne J. "Vern" Moore, who passed just a few months shy of their 60th wedding anniversary. She was also welcomed home by her loving mom, Margaret ("our Granny"), her dad, Cecil, and two beloved sons-in-law, Ruben and Guy.
