Nellie Marie Waggoner, age 93, was born in Kentucky to Flora and Thomas Darden. She was the eldest of a large family and grew up on a farm. She married Alvin E. Waggoner in 1956 and they made their life-long home in Goodlettsville, Tn. Mrs. Waggoner excelled in canning and preserving vegetables grown by her husband in their garden. She was a wonderful baker and cook and was famous for her cakes. She was also an accomplished seamstress. Mrs. Waggoner was a member of Whitworth Baptist Church. She worked at General Shoe and retired from the Oscar Mayer plant. Her husband predeceased her in 2012. She is survived by her sister, Ann Rodriguez, her brother, David Darden, numerous nieces and nephews. and good friend, Ruby Fleming. The family is grateful for the loving care provided by Young Heart Senior Care in Hendersonville.
A Graveside service conducted by Rev. Pete Darnell will be held on Saturday, March 13th at 1:00 p.m..
