

Born in Davidson County, TN to the late Emmitte Lee and Essie (Gann) Johnson, Joy is also preceded in death by four of her siblings. She is survived by her children Kenny Ledbetter (Ginger), Patricia Bell (Robert), Richard Ledbetter, David Ledbetter (Suzanne); four grandchildren Cliff Collins, Beth Collins, Tabitha Joy Ledbetter, John Ledbetter; two great-grandchildren Leanna and Makayla Collins; sisters Brookie Ferguson, Danni Waisner, many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
Joy was well traveled. As the wife of a member of the military, she had lived in many locations throughout the eastern half of the United States, as well as two years in Germany. Joy retired from the Madison Utility Department, after 20 years of dutiful service there. She was a long-time member of Rayon City Missionary Baptist Church in Old Hickory, TN.
Joy was dedicated to her family and enjoyed cooking for them. Growing up, Joy loved to roller skate and play baseball with her brothers and the neighborhood kids. She was an excellent gardener and grew the most beautiful flowers to share. She was kind, generous and a happy person. Her memory will forever be close to our heart.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 12pm - 2pm, with a funeral chapel service officiated by pastor Kent Collier to begin at 2pm and burial to follow in the garden of Our Saviour, all at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1150 S. Dickerson Pike Rd., Goodlettsville, TN.
