

Melvin Leon Seard - age 76 passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013. Mr. Seard was born Tuesday, February 9, 1937 in Greenville, Mississippi to the late James Robert and Mable Bernice White Seard; he is also preceded in death by his wife Marie Hoyle Seard.
Mr. Seard attended D. C. Teacher's College now the University of the District Columbia. He received a Honorary Doctorate of Laws; he later went on to work in Operation Whitecoats - Germ Warfare Project; a Lab. Tech at the National Institute of Health; then 30 years at General Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist as Director of Facilities Management. Mr. Seard was the first African-American to head a department at the Seventh Day Adventist Denominational Headquarters.
Funeral services will be 2:00 Friday, July 5, 2013 with Furman F. Fordham officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens 1150 South Dickerson Road, Goodlettsville, Tennessee.
Family and friends will gather to remember Mr. Seard at a visitation from 10:00 until 12:00 Friday, July 5, 2013 at Riverside Chapel Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Mr. Seard is survived by his son, Melvin Leon Seard, II and his wife, Angela Joy; sisters, Lydia Tucker, Helen Seard Davis, Carolyn Parker; nephew, Andre’ R. Davis; grandchildren, Alivia Noel & Landon Gabriel Seard, grandnephews, Andre’ Ryan and John Alexander Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, god-children & friends.
