Shortly before midnight on June 23, 2021 with a final flicker, the candle burned out and the room went dark. Our precious Mom’o, a marvelous 99 years young, crossed from this realm into eternal rest. She departed these shores to cross the Jordan and meet the Savior whose name she chose to wear when she was baptized at age 96.
Oleane "Trish" Petway Larson was a tiny woman with a big heart. She loved deeply and was loved deeply. While her good health has diminished and her mind deteriorated the past couple of years, she lived a very full century of life — missing her 100th birthday by just two months.
She was born on a farm in Birmingham, Marshall County, Kentucky on September 1, 1921, the youngest of four children of Clarence and Letha Brindley Petway. She married Willard Fields in 1938 and three years later had her only child, Judy. In 1944, she met N. H. “Jack” Larson and married him shortly after. They worked hard to build a life together and a very successful and blessed one they had. He preceded her in death in 2016, shortly after turning 100 himself.
Mom’o loved flowers and had a natural talent for growing beautiful ones. She loved to work outside to make the apartment buildings she and Dad’o (Jack) owned beautiful for all to enjoy. She was a hard worker and always made sure everyone’s needs were met, even sacrificing her own comfort so that others were comfortable. She was truly one of a kind, funny, generous, and a beautiful soul. She carried with her the best parts of her parents and you could look at her face and see both of them. She also loved traveling, ballroom dancing, and spending time between homes in Lansing, Michigan and Pompano Beach, Florida.
She will be missed, but we have the hope of reunion one day, praise God. Her flame may have burned out, but in so many ways, she continues to give light. She is survived by her daughter Judy McDannald who selflessly cared for her during her twilight years; her granddaughters Beverley Drewry and Lynne Bartels; great-grandsons Justin Richardson, Cristopher, Daniel, and Eric Miller; great-great-grandchildren Brenton, Bailey, Lyric, Lilly, Chene, Taylor, Kamilia, Teresa, Mariah, and Kenneth; niece Faye Smith; and Jack's many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Jack, she was preceded in death by her parents, infant siblings Wilmeta Petway and Walter Jackson Petway, and brother Woodrow Petway.
Farewell, sweet Mom’o, until we meet again. We are so thankful God gave us precious extra time with you these last few years.
The family has chosen cremation. There will not be any services. If you desire to make a donation in her name, the family has chosen Potter Children's Home of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
