

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 12pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Goodlettsville with Rev. Jon Briggs officiating. The family will receive friends from 10am until the time of service.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Our Savior at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Richard was born Friday, April 10, 1931 in Springfield, TN. His surviving family includes his sister Cecelia Pratt of White House, daughters Cheryl (Bill) Binkley of Alexandria VA, Yolanda (Joe) Reid of White House, Farah (Mark) Cook and Dawn Gibbs of Springfield, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his wife Ruth Brown Gibbs, son Anthony Gibbs, grandson Travis Cook and great-granddaughter Malia Head. He was the last living son of George F. Gibbs and Lillie Troutt Gibbs of Springfield.
Richard was a US Navy veteran and a 32nd degree Mason. He worked fifteen years at AVCO as a machinist, and with Dupont for 25 years, retiring in 1990. He was a woodworker, building his own home and various pieces for family and friends; raised cows; a backyard mechanic restoring cars with his son.
