Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Anita Short, as well as his cherished grandparents, Ezra and Pearl Short.
In 1982, Terry married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Short, and together they built a strong and loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found his greatest joy in spending time with his family.
Terry is survived by his three children: Nicholas Short, Tasha Duke (Charles III), and Christina (Mike Carden); ten grandchildren: K'Lynn, Hailey, Shianne, Nathaniel, Abigail, Charles, Jaxson, Elijah, Emma, and Niresah; and four great-grandchildren: Emersyn, Lainey-Blu, Zaiden, and Peyton.
Terry lived his life with quiet strength, curiosity, and a deep love for nature — especially the ocean, where he felt most alive and free. He loved to fish and could spend endless hours on the water, boating across the waves with an ease and joy that seemed to belong only to him. The ocean was his element, his peace, and his greatest adventure.
Terry also had a knack for fixing anything with a motor, always eager to lend a hand or share his mechanical know-how.
Known for his generous heart and quick wit, Terry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on in the memories he leaves behind.
At Terry’s request, a private farewell will be held by the ocean — his sanctuary — as his spirit rejoices at home with Jesus.
