Mr. Slater served in WWII received the Purple Heart, worked for E I DuPont, was a member of the Goodlettsville Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed piloting his Cherokee Arrow, scuba diving, water skiing and was very involved with the great-grandchildren’s activities.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mildred Slater; daughter, Diana Smith; Granddaughter, Jennifer (Jeff) Duncan; brother, George Slater; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jonathan Duncan.
A celebration of life will be conducted 12:00 Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in the chapel of Forest Lawn with K. I. Wright officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
