Born in Columbus, Ohio, Ron was the son of Arthur and Miriam Worthington.
He spent 4 years in the active USAF, then spent the remainder of his 30 year military career in the USAF Reserves. He received many medals, merits, and ribbons during his military service.
Ron retired from ConAgra, Inc., as a plant manager, then pursued many other entrepreneur adventures including ownership of a business park and a liquor store and bar. After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, he worked for a bureau of the U.S. Government as Special Investigator in the Phoenix area where several of the terrorists received their flight training.
Ron was active in the AZ Chapter of the MOAA. He held chapter offices including V.P. and was the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee.
Ron was preceded in death by his brother Alan Worthington.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Kay, two daughters and one son: Theresa Bennett and husband Matthew, Ann Marie Worthington and husband Frank, Chad Worthington and wife Mary; 6 grandchildren Tanner, James, Logan, Dylan, Devin, and Mary Kayla; and two sisters Theresa Kennedy and Wendy Bryant of Florida.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, October 16, 2011. The Visitation begins 3:30 pm at Thompson’s Valley West Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Rd., Goodyear, AZ. The funeral service begins at 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers the family would suggest a memorial be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014 (Please reference Team T.)
