Barbara Ann Innis of Goodyear, AZ died June 4, 2012 at the age of 83. Barbara was born in Boston, Massachusetts January 24, 1929 to Evelyn M. and William A. Clay. She attended Boston University and worked at Shawmut Bank. She was married to Walter L. Innis, Maj. retired, who preceded her in death. During her marriage she worked as a Procurement Clerk at Elmendorf AFB, Anchorage, AK and after eventually moving to New Jersey where she lived 40 years, she was employed as both a Teacher's Aide for the Learning Disabled in Freehold and as a Child Development Specialist at Lakehurst Naval Air Station. In later years she became an officer in the Freehold Township Women's Club and was the President of the "Solos" in Whiting. Barbara was a member of the Mayflower Society. As a caregiver in her community she transported patients to their various appointments and gave of her time to sit with Alzheimer's victims. She is survived by two sisters: Marjorie E. Clay of Old Orchard Beach, ME and Nancy J. Winans of Englewood, FL and a brother: Robert S. Clay of Deland, FL. Another sister: Virginia L. Jacobson of Pembroke, MA had previously passed. She is also survived by three children: Nancy S. Roberts of Goodyear, AZ, Jeffrey A. Innis of Tonopah, AZ and William C. Innis of Idaho Springs, CO, seven grandchildren and one great-grand child. She is to be interred with her late husband at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers a contribution to Habitat for Humanity is requested. A memorial service is planned for a later date.
