It is with deep sadness that we mourn the loss of Barbara Arlene (Erickson) Tatro on June 19, 2026 in Phoenix, Arizona. Born October 9th, 1940 in Aberdeen, Washington to Ero Erickson and Arlene (Hereford) Erickson the second of four children, she spent most of her adult life in Western Washington and in recent years has enjoyed the warm, sunny Arizona weather.
Growing up in coastal Washington, she graduated from Ocosta High School and attended Grays Harbor College where she met the love of her life, Gary Edgar Tatro. Married March 19th, 1960 and together, they were married over 60 years until his passing in 2022. She was resourceful, strong and resilient to the very end. Caring for her husband throughout the time of his disability and providing much of the family financial support, her grit and determination leave a lasting legacy. She loved to sew early in her life, making clothes and quilts as well as crafting wedding dresses and other clothes as a private seamstress. The bulk of her professional career was in the medical field, working as an office administrator and bookkeeper until her retirement.
Her love of sports never wavered throughout her life. An avid football and baseball fan she followed the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners. She rarely missed a game on television and thoroughly enjoyed going to Spring Training games with her family.
She enjoyed puzzles, board games and especially playing cards with her newest friends at the retirement community in Goodyear, Arizona where she lived until her passing. A dog lover her entire life, she enjoyed spending time with her grand pups.
A woman of faith, her Christian belief never wavered.
Of all the things in life she enjoyed, Mom loved her family most deeply. Survived by her children Jeffrey Alan Tatro (Katy Jo), Steven Glen (Melanie) and Carlene Large (Jerry) and grandchildren Britton Tatro (Megan), Skylar Frager (Josh), Chase Tatro, Taylor Large (Paula) and great grandchild Willow Large.
At her request, no services will be held. If you would like to honor our mom, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in her honor.
