On a bright, sunny morning Michael gently left this world at home with his wife by his side on June 11, 2020. Only on hospice since the day before, he didn’t waste any time to go on to his Lord. He was tired. He was all too ready.
Michael was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February 3rd, 1947 to Jean and Patrick McGee. Raised by his grandparents, Chapman and Marian Hall, in West Milwaukee, he went on to UW Milwaukee in business/law. He met his wife, Christine Sampson at a St. Patrick’s party, and they married November 21, 1970. In that same year, he became a nursing student at Milwaukee County Hospital School of Nursing in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. From there he went on to anesthesia training in Wausau, Wisconsin, graduating in 1976, and working in Wisconsin and Illinois. In 1990, he moved to the Phoenix area, working for many hospitals there and in California. He retired in 2017. He was the center of our family. His kindness knew no limits. His favorite trips involved Monterey Bay, California, Vancouver, Canada and Grand Cayman.
He is survived by his son, Joshua Brandt (Pamela) of Kimberly, Wisconsin, and his daughter, Leah Ptacek (Brent) Of Goodyear, Arizona, eight grandchildren; Jacob, Jeffery, Madelyn, Teagan, Everleigh and Olivia Brandt and Kedron and Haven Ptacek, his half sister, Kathi (Ron) Roberts Of Iowa, his half brother David Brandt of New Mexico, his step mother Joann McGee and half sisters, Erin (Larry) Gardon, Sherry (Jon) Pesko and Karen (Richard) McFarland, all of Wisconsin. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and his brother, William Patrick Brandt.
He loved animals (almost more than most people), the Packers and the Badgers! He knew with certainty through grace that he would be joining his Lord. He would like all of his people to gather within their families and remember him and perhaps have a proper Irish toast for him with Tullamore Dew!
