Brian Tamblyn, age 54, finally escaped the madness of this world on May 19, 2025—likely still muttering something snarky about paperwork and bureaucracy on his way out. Born the fifth of seven children to Warren Edward Tamblyn (deceased) and Sherron Hobbins, Brian’s life was a tapestry of creativity, humor, rebellion, and love.
He is survived by his beloved daughter Frankie; his sister Kathleen; and his brothers Ken, Eric, Carter, and Dennis. Brian joins his daughter, Cassidy, in heaven who passed away in 1992. He also leaves behind a wide swath of people who either loved him fiercely or were confused by his opinions—often both.
Brian wore many hats throughout his life: brother, uncle, husband, father, son. He was also, at various times, a punk rock bassist and guitarists, a country band fiddler, a skater, a brief movie star, bird whisperer and even a chicken farmer. His sharp wit, open mind, deep intelligence, and generous spirit made him unforgettable to those lucky enough to know him.
For much of his life, Brian bounced between jobs, never quite settling on a single career—until his 40s, when a chance encounter with an occupational therapist during his time as a cab driver set him on a new path. In OT, Brian found both challenge and purpose. He took joy in connecting with patients, discovering creative ways to help them heal and thrive.
Brian’s first love, however, was music. A gifted musician from the age of three, he played piano and violin, eventually performing with the Phoenix Symphony Youth program. As he grew older, his tastes turned to punk rock and country. He played in numerous bands including bass for Spun, a local punk band, and fiddle for Oregon Rain, a country group. He was also a songwriter and talented vocalist. He could pick up nearly any instrument with ease.
To be happy, Brian once said he only needed four things: music, birds, OT, and his family. He had all of those, and in return, gave the world laughter, melody, mischief, and love. He will be deeply missed, and never forgotten.
