Brian Mitchell Tas

Brian Tas of Goodyear, AZ, has passed away at the age of 68. He is survived by his partner Shirley, his sons Mitchell(Darcie), Brian, Nolan and his daughter Jessica(Zachary), his brothers Michael(Joy) Gary(Lisa), and his grandchildren Skylar and Austin. He is preceded in death by his parents Marcel and Juliette and his sister Laura.

In life Brian had many career accomplishments while part of the Park Forest Police Department. He made his way from patrolman that started in 1980, to corporal in 1999, then commander in 2004. Coincided with those accomplishments he was a very active member in the D.A.R.E program that taught youth about avoiding drugs and making healthy life choices. Along with that program he was the cofounder of the P.A.A.C program that provided after school alternative for youth.

He truly embraced life and made the most of his retirement. He loved traveling the country with his children or with Shirley, hiking, and discovering new places to explore. This past year, he set out on an incredible 3,200 mile motorcycle ride from Arizona to Indiana and back—something he deeply loved and took great pride in.

Above all else, family meant everything to him. His greatest joy came from the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, who were always at the center of his heart.

In lieu of flower, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the National Fallen Officers Foundation.
