Corrine’s education background began in Tennessee at Nelson Mary Primary School, she continued on to Napier School, Pearl High School and continued on to Tennessee State University before moving to Chicago, Illinois. Corrine continued her education and received her Masters in child psychology from Governor State University in Park Forest, Illinois.
Moments of her life kept close were the upbringing of her religious teaching from her mother and father, being with family, enjoying birthdays, family reunions and traveling abroad. She enjoyed dancing (Bidjo Theater) and modeling for the well renown Ebony Magazine—Johnson Publishing Company in Chicago, Illinois.
Corrine was a head start teacher for 30 years, she enjoyed teaching her students as she helped prepare them for a new beginning in education. She enjoyed her love for teaching so much that she inspired the neighborhood church with her idea of starting a youth program. This allowed her to open the doors to the “South Shore Community Church Summer Camp and Youth Group program. It was an inspiration to all in the community.
Because of the love and direction given to all the neighboring children she became like a mother to them so they called her Momma Moore. To this day they have not forgotten her.
Corrine was one to stay busy all the time, but she decided to retire at age 72 and moved to Avondale, Arizona were she kept close to her children. She made sure she would enjoy the rest of her life in the sun. She enjoyed traveling and the company of her Gamma Phi Delta Sorority sisters and her neighborhood friends that kept her spirits lifted.
Corrine was the last of 11 siblings. She will be remembered as a fun, energetic and charming lady as well as a wonderful mother and a dear friend to many.
Corrine was preceded by her first husband, George E Moore Jr.; her late husband, Frank Threalkill; and her son George E Moore III; and great-grandson, Johnnie Avant IV.
She leaves to cherish her memories into the hearts of her 4 children: Her daughters Paulette Smith and husband Lester Smith, Tamara Avant Paulsen and husband James Paulsen, her sons Dennis Moore and Michael Moore and wife Gina Moore. Corrine has two grandchildren: Marius Powell and Johnnie Avant III and fiancée Shaundrea Davis and 11 great grandchildren: Nodia Powell, Jesse Miranda, Joshua Miranda, Jonathan Miranda, Jacob Miranda, Kyla Powell, Aubrie Avant, Armani Avant, Alijah Avant, Angelique Avant and Amber Molly Reed and many extended family members from across the world.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on July 11th at Thompson Funeral Chapel.
