Dan graduated from Rufus King High School and soon after began a proud career serving his country in the United States Air Force. In December of 1955, shortly after enlisting, he met the love of his life, Lois Pochert. Following basic training, the two were married and began a life filled with adventure, devotion, and family. During his military career, Dan and Lois lived in France, Japan, and several states throughout the U.S., while Dan also completed a 14-month unaccompanied tour in Korea.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1981, Dan embraced a new chapter by returning to school and becoming a dental hygienist, a profession he practiced with dedication until his second retirement. Retirement brought opportunities for travel, and Dan and Lois enjoyed multiple trips throughout Asia as well as many memorable cruises together.
Dan will be remembered for his generous spirit, his love of family, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid bridge player, passionate fisherman, and devoted volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul for 25 years, giving countless hours in service to others.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Findler; his daughter, Angelica (Joseph) Findler; his sons, Michael (Teri), Mark, Christopher (Krissy), and Paul (Daisy); his sister, Michelle (Larry) Jacobson; as well as 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom will cherish his memory.
Dan was preceded in death by his daughter, Marie Ann; his sons, Daniel Jr. and Steven; his parents, Eugene and Antoinette; his brother, Robert; and his sister, Genie.
Dan’s family takes comfort in the many lives he touched through his kindness, service, and unwavering love for those around him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul in Dan’s honor.
