We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Debbie Cross, a resident of Goodyear, Arizona, who peacefully left us on September 2, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on July 9, 1957, in San Bernardino, California, Debbie was the beloved daughter of George and Marie (Mitchell) Hanney.
Debbie is survived by her devoted husband Donald Cross. They were married nearly 46 years (though they were together for 47 as Debbie always used to remind him). She is also survived by their three wonderful children: Dakota, Keely, and Wesley Cross as well as her cherished pets, including cats Spock and Little Bits, and her faithful dog, Ella.
Debbie’s vibrant and free-spirited personality was reflected in her eclectic interests and passions. A lifelong sports fan, she cheerfully shifted her allegiance from the Cincinnati Reds to the Dodgers, and eventually to the Diamondbacks, all in support of her husband. Music was a great joy in her life, with a playlist that ranged from Gary Morris and Simply Red to Fleetwood Mac and Al Green, with a special affection for Luther Vandross's “Dance with My Father.”
In her leisure time, Debbie delighted in watching her favorite TV shows such as "Blue Bloods," "Yellowstone," "Mountain Men," and anything on the Food Network. Her culinary skills were renowned, especially her amazing spaghetti sauce, which became a family favorite. She was also known for her creativity and joy in glass fusion, cooking, and playing bridge. Her love for garlic in her cooking was one of her personal signatures. Debbie was also involved in the Estrella Conservative Republican Club (ECRC) and attended their meetings as often as she could. She was a proud supporter of the Republican Party.
Debbie’s warmth and humor were evident in all she did. Her family fondly remembers her long conversations on the patio. Her sleep talking, and even sleep singing brought laughter and joy to those around her. Her strong will and generous heart made her a cornerstone of support for her loved ones.
Debbie's spirit will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and culinary prowess will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
In honoring Debbie’s memory, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and an enduring spirit that touched everyone she met.
