Denise Angelica Romero, 55, loving wife, mother and sister, was surrounded by family when she passed away at home in Goodyear, Arizona on June 5, 2026. Born Denise Angelica Lopez to Jose C. Lopez and Nadine Lopez in Phoenix, Arizona, she spent her early years in Rialto, California. Her middle and high school years were spent in Phoenix, Arizona, where she graduated from Moon Valley High School. She joins her parents in Heaven and is survived by loving husband, Peter Romero, and her children Micaela Lopez, Dominique Romero, Maiya Romero and stepchildren Xavier Romero and Isiah Romero.
Denise had an electric and unstoppable smile that would warm your soul. She truly cared about people and had an amazing sense of humor. Her bright outlook on life impacted everyone she met! Denise constantly communicated life’s possibilities and opportunities. She loved creating special handmade gifts for loved ones. She had an amazing ability to appreciate people and would let them know how much they meant to her. She enjoyed the movies and vacations with her family to New Mexico, Sedona, Rocky Point and California. She was spontaneous and full of energy – no matter how long a shift she worked. Denise watched over her children whom she loved so much and encouraged them to expand their horizons – from music to sports. She always made time to be there for practices, games, choir and concerts.
Stubborn is the word that best describes Denise Angelica Romero. Once she got something in her mind, she would achieve it. Her stubborn nature always came through, even when diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October 2022, and given 12 to 18 months to live. It was that stubborn nature that enabled her to achieve her goal of seeing her two youngest children graduate from high school in May 2025 and 2026.
She was an inspiring example of hard work and her career with United Parcel Service spanned 33 years. She started in the warehouse, then was a package driver for 19 years – driving without air conditioning and while pregnant with all three of her girls! The last 10 years were as a CDL semi-truck driver, retiring in 2022 to battle pancreatic cancer.
She loved the northern New Mexico landscape and warm welcoming community, and the Flatirons of Boulder, Colorado. She was thankful for her many blessings and shared her positive affirmations with everyone. She loved gnomes, angels, crafts, Jeeps, and everything that Sparkled! She loved puns and was known to text funny memes in the middle of the night. Watch Out if you wrote a misspelling or grammatical error – she’d catch every single one. Her daily check-ins with her best friends: Temu & Amazon, always brought a package to the door.
Denise had a pure and lasting impact on so many people. Follow her example and do what Denise would do – give encouragement to someone today!
