Henry Van Der Hart, born July 17, 1931 in rural Pella, Iowa, was called to be with his Lord on July 2, 2012. He was a farmer and an avid gardener, and after spending his life in Iowa, Nebraska, New Mexico and Arizona, tended his final spring garden in Mobile, Alabama. He served as a medic on the front lines during the Korean conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Helen Van Der Hart; sisters, Stella and Nelly; brothers, Thomas, John, and Jacob; and granddaughter Deborah Van Der Hart. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann Van Der Hart; sons Tim (Michelle), Mark (Dorcas), and Phillip (Lisa); daughter Rhoda and husband Tom Herder; grandchildren Esther, Matthew, Joseph, Bethany, Priscilla, Mary, Joshua, Gabriel, David, Levi, Michael, Julia, Josiah, Alexandria, Alicia, and Jeffrey; and great grandchildren Sophia, Cade, Ezra, Titus, Cyrus, Olivia, Nathan, and Savanna. His funeral will be on July 16, 2012 at 10:00 am in Goodyear, Arizona at Thompson Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Institute for Cancer Research at 1759 R.
