Leslie Dewayne Hasart, age 86 of Phoenix, AZ passed away on March 19, 2016. Leslie was born October 2, 1930 to Jacob and Carrie Hasart in Ree Heights, SD. A farm boy from a family of 13 children, he learned at an early age to work hard.
Leslie joined the United States Army in July of 1953. He was transported to Korea, arriving just as the Korean War truce was signed, and then was stationed in France and Germany as a mechanic. He was discharged in May, 1955 and married his wife, Linda Lou Hasart in 1956. The family moved to Dodgeville, WI where he worked for Hennessey and ten years later moved back to Eau Claire, WI where he worked for Presto Industries for 20 years making shell casings. When cold weather became too much, he moved his family to Phoenix, Arizona where he worked cleaning meat packing plants.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Perry Hasart; three brothers, Harold, LaVern, and Harvey; seven sisters, Neva Irene Robbins, Ethel Marie Nelson, Ina Louise Meyers, Vera Ann Kittilstad, Doris May Valerio, Irma Joyce Shepler and Diane Jean Bibeau; three grandsons, Christopher, Steven, and Jerome; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Pamela Jean Boone and husband Robert, and two brothers, Jacob and Alvin.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 830 E Plaza Circle, Litchfield Park, AZ. Interment will follow at 12:30 pm at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
