Don Davis, 75, of Litchfield Park, passed away on November 14, 2012 after a four year fight with cancer. He was born September 6, 1937 in Caruthersville, MO. At the age of six months old, his parents and siblings moved to Indio, CA where Don lived until he moved to Phoenix, AZ over 55 years ago. He is preceded in death by his father Roy Lee; mother Lorene; and his two sisters, Alberta and Gail.
He came from a very musical family and at the age of 16 began to travel with the Jimmy Duncan Country band as a lead singer during the summer months. Later as an adult he had several bands her in Phoenix, best known as “Don Davis and the Barb Wire Boys” and Don Davis and the “Skunkcreek Playboys”. When you saw Don, he usually had his guitar with him or at least it was somewhere close by.
Don was employed with APS/Palo Verde Nuclear Plant for over 25 years as a Master Industrial Photographer. He was manager of the photographic equipment and records as well as producing beautiful photos of the company. Copies of his famous photos are still hanging at the plant.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; daughter, Loretta Jo Johnson and husband Dave; son, Dereck M. Davis and wife, Dana; step-son Fred E. Davis and wife Lori; Gary A. Davis and wife, Vicki; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
He will always be remembered as a wonderful, loving husband, a fantastic father and grandfather and a true friend to all who knew him. His wonderful smile, sense of humor, talent and the goodness of his kind heart will be missed by everyone. May he rest in peace.
