Dora L. Aragon

As one of the oldest of seven siblings, she helped her mother care for her younger siblings and took care of the house. She loved going to her grandma’s house and learned to cook from her grandma as well as her mother. She enjoyed roller skating and could practically dance in skates. She enjoyed spending time with her good friends in Flagstaff, she loved dancing and music. She played sports at Flagstaff High School. She took a lot of college courses in music and Spanish.

Dora met her husband of 73.5 years, Pat Aragon, in Flagstaff and they were married at Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 27, 1952. They had six children and raised them in Avondale. They loved to travel, visiting friends and family all over Arizona, California, and Hawaii. They made their yearly trip to Notre Dame, Indiana for the Holy Cross ordinations, traveled to Rome and the Holy Land, Australia and Alaska. One of their favorite spots was Rocky Point. They enjoyed camping every year in Sedona and spending time at their trailer in Flagstaff. She loved animals, her dog Chico, and her birds.

Dora was a longtime parishioner of St. John Vianney. She sang in the choir, she played the organ, piano, and guitar. She was involved in many ministries, took Communion to the homebound, and worked in the gift shop. For many years she made green chili burritos in the burrito factory to raise money for the church.

Dora worked as a waitress, in childcare, and at King’s department store. She worked at Agua Fria Union High School as the Attendance Clerk for over 20 years.

She is survived by her husband Pat Aragon, her children Mark Aragon, Deborah Pina (Richard), daughter-in-law Mary Aragon, and Patricia Baglini, and her siblings Nick Gonzales (Carla), Esther Mendez (Martin) and Joe Gonzales (Susan). She is survived by nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Guadalupe Gonzales, her siblings Tony Gonzales, Lorraine Sernas, Dolly Encisco, Gabriel Gonzales and her sons David Aragon, Frank Aragon, and Michael Aragon.

She will be missed greatly but giving thanks for having blessed her family and the world with her gifts and talents and love for all whom she encountered.

A Viewing & Visitation will be held at Saint John Vianney Church, 800 W Loma Linda Blvd, Goodyear, Arizona, on August 8, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Rosary at the same location on August 8, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am, and Mass at Saint John Vianney Church on August 8, 2026, beginning at 10:30 am.

Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, 9925 W Thomas Road, Avondale on August 8, 2026, from 11:45 am to 12:30 pm.
