Ed attended Henry Ford Community College for four years while training to become a journeyman electrician which he accomplished in April 1959 while working at General Motors and Ford Motor Companies in Michigan. Ed served, with pride, six years in the United States Army, two active duty and four in the reserves, from 1962-1968. In 1970 Ed was appointed the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor for the Van Buren Public Schools where he was employed for four years. In 1974 he was named Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds of Paradise Valley Schools in Phoenix, Arizona. After approximately 8 years he moved on to Director of Grounds at Arizona State University. From there he became Director of Buildings and Grounds at The Arizona Biltmore until approximately 1998 when he obtained his residential contractor’s license, building custom homes in the West Valley, completing his working career in 2008.
Ed’s strong faith in God sustained him throughout his life. He was an active member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Goodyear, Arizona, for about 12 years. He was involved in God’s work all his life.
Ed is survived by his wife, Donna Peck, the love of his life for 65 years, son Chip Peck, cousins Sylvia Broughton, James Bradford, and Virginia Barber, of N.C. and Florida, and sister-in-law, Sharon Nothnagel and nephews Mark and John Nothnagel, all of Colorado.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, October 3, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Christ Presbyterian Church, 925 N. Sarival, Goodyear, Az. The family suggests donations be made to College of the Ozarks, Hard Work U, PO Box 17, Point Lookout, MO 65726 (800-222-0525, https://www.cofo.edu/) a college visited often by Ed and Donna over the last 25 years.
