Franciscus Cassandra Ewell, commonly known as Ciscus, was born to Evelyn L. Brown and William R. Woodall Sr. on October 29th, 1959, in Wilmington Delaware. She earned her diploma from Wilmington High School and afterwards she spent 14 years working at Sears Automotive.
In her formative years, love and loyalty to family was a lesson that was constantly taught by words and action in her mother’s home. A lesson she would not only maintain but also pass on to the next generation. Ciscus was a woman with a big heart but was also known as a fighter physically and spiritually. There are countless stories amongst family and friends of Ciscus stepping in to defend those she loved and held dear. If you were in need and she had the ability to help she would do everything in her power to be of service.
Ciscus had many talents, chief amongst them was her passion for cooking. When she was in the kitchen the aroma of her food could be smelled from outside her home. Her meals would keep the house full, it was common to see her children alongside neighbors, nephews, and nieces at the dinner table. She was incredibly funny, often at that same dinner table you would be witness to her joking with everyone. To add to that she had an amazing memory which made her story telling something to remember. Due to that skill, she often was the person you would go to for family history or just something you forgot in general.
Ciscus was a proud mother and grandmother. If you ran into her,you were almost sure one of her grandchildren was not far behind. The relationship she had with them was that of a confidant, friend, and beloved mentor. She had such a close relationship with them that the older grandchildren would argue with the younger ones for her time.
As a mother she loved her children with a fullness that lasts a lifetime. She was the kind of mother that showed up in creative ways. Once she repurposed household items to make a ninja outfit for her youngest son for Halloween. It was common for her to make ways out of nothing. She also taught her children how to have faith even in hard times. She lived by example, whether it was health, finances, or other life issues she embraced life with a confidence and trust in her creator that was infectious to her children.
We will miss Ciscus, however we are not sad, she fought amazingly well and now it’s time for her rest. We will hold on to her memory and honor her legacy until our father in heaven reunites us.
