The son of David L. DeGarmo and Ruth E. (Andreasen) DeGarmo, Gregory was born in Pontiac, Illinois on October 23, 1991. He was born with a congenital brain malformation that left him profoundly developmentally disabled. However, Gregory deeply enriched his family, church, neighbors, and school with his simple affection. He enjoyed spending time and travelling with his family, listening to music, and watching sports on television. Early this year, Gregory served daily as a supportive practice audience as his sister, Stacey, prepared for her senior horn recital at Arizona State University (Tempe, AZ). Later in the spring, he was in the audience for another sister, Kristin, as she performed her senior voice recital at Evangel University (Springfield, MO). Gregory attended West Valley Assembly of God and was a student at Desert Edge High School. Before moving with his family to Arizona in 2002, Gregory lived in Dwight, Illinois.
He is survived by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. David L. DeGarmo (Goodyear, AZ); maternal grandmother Emily Andreasen (Nixa, MO); paternal grandfather Rev. Leon DeGarmo (Cape Coral, FL); sisters Kristin DeGarmo and Stacey DeGarmo (both of Goodyear, AZ); and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Gregory was preceded in death by maternal grandfather Rev. Albert Andreasen and paternal grandmother Lillian DeGarmo.
