Henry was the life of the party and lit up any room he was in. He played many roles in life: Policeman, Olympic Alternate, Village Trustee, Office Worker, Master Mason, Blues Singer; but his most important roles were as Husband and Father, and at those, he was the best.
Born in Chicago, he moved to Benton Harbor, MI during his teenage years. He later briefly lived in Washington D.C. before returning to Chicago for most of his life. Along the path of his life, he tried out many hobbies and pastimes, but playing the harmonica with his band, Hurricane Henry and the Fabulous Tornados, was a favorite. He married twice, and raised a family in Round Lake, IL for two decades. There he served as a Village Trustee for several terms. After retirement, he relocated to Goodyear, Arizona where he spent his remaining days.
Henry was happiest when traveling, meeting new people, and seeing new places. He was able to find common ground with anyone he met and charm them. And although he had times when he could be serious, more often the version of Henry friends saw was the mischievous, lighthearted, playful one. He always found the joy in life, and lived for the moment, having a great time wherever he went. He was rarely seen without a smile.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Dolores Frye, and his daughter, Laura J. Frye, his sister, Sarah Williams, along with a large network of cousins in the Frye and Smith family trees. His father, Henry Frye, Sr., his mother, Alta Mae Smith Frye, as well as his first wife, Helena Guydon Frye, preceded him in death.
