Jerry was an only child with many friends in California. He loved music and played the trumpet in his high school marching band, dance band, and jazz band.
After high school, he married Cheryl and continued his education at San Jose State College in California to become a design engineer. Jerry and Cheryl recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
As a hobby, he loved designing, constructing, and painting miniature military model figures that he showed all over the world in competitions. Many of his models were featured in several hobby magazines. Some of his other hobbies were civil war re-enactment, shooting, racing motocross motorcycles, auto-crossing sports cars, and HO model trains. Of course his big hobby was street rods and classic cars.
He was the loved father of two sons, Greg and Jeff, whom he infected with his love of cars.
He was the grandfather to Zachary and papa to beautiful Haley, the father-in-law to Feliz and Greg’s girlfriend, Melissa.
He was a quiet person who loved everyone. He was a great father and family man. We all really miss him.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, July 22 at Thompson Funeral Chapel.
