Although his time was brief, Christopher lived life to the fullest. From the time he was a young child, he loved to ride. Whether on a motorcycle or a dirt bike, traveling on two wheels was a thrill to him. As he grew, outdoor adventures often beckoned to him. Camping in the dunes or the Cinders in Flagstaff became a favorite activity. And football season brought its own excitement, especially since Chris was an avid AZ Cardinals fan.
Wherever he went, whatever he did, Christopher brought a friendliness and warmth that put everyone at ease. With a smile on his face, he could instantly assure even the newest of friends that they were a welcome addition to his life. Loyal and dependable, he was everyone’s buddy. His concern was always for others and he worked hard to make sure that everyone’s needs were taken care of. His gentleness and caring was perhaps best demonstrated by his love and care for his two dogs, Cornelius Winston Ruiz, a mini-dachshund, and Charles Madison Ruiz a chocolate lab. But it was the company of his family and good friends that brought Chris his greatest joy.
Christopher is survived by his parents, Chris and Deb; stepfather, Dean Scarlett; three sisters, Vanessa Ruiz, Michelle Ruiz and Ella Scarlett; grandparents, Fernando and Lena Ruiz and Rosemarie and Russell Atkinson; uncle, Ryan Karylyle; nephew, Ryan; niece, Melody; and long-time girlfriend, Cara Stelz. He was preceded in death by his uncle John Abram and niece Hailey Ruiz.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Friday, January 15, 2016 at Christ’s Church of the Valley, 1565 N 113th Ave, Avondale, AZ 85392.
