

John Ryan Weston, born on July 13, 2003, passed away on August 28, 2025, at the age of 22. A resident of Kailua, Hawaii, Ryan was known for his inquisitive nature and intrinsic love for learning. From a young age, he was always asking "WHY" and sought to understand the world around him. He grew up playing sports alongside his brothers and excelled in academics and athletics throughout his life.
Ryan graduated in 2021 from Millennium High School, where he was in the top 1% of his class. During his high school years, he was an active participant in track and cross country, and was a proud member of the 2021 State Champion 4x800 m Relay team. His passion for service and protection led him to the Coast Guard Academy, where he felt the mission closely aligned with his own beliefs and future goals.
In May 2025, Ryan graduated summa cum laude from the United States Coast Guard Academy with a degree in Operations Research and Data Analytics. He was recognized for having the highest proficiency in mathematics and operations research. As a cadet, Ryan continued his involvement in track and cross country, earning several top-10 individual and team relay honors, and participated in events such as the Jersey City Marathon and the Mystic Half Marathon.
Ryan had recently begun his first billet assignment in Honolulu, where he spent the last three months serving with dedication. He enjoyed surfing the waves of Oahu and an avid participant in local run clubs excelling in their local mile and 8k events. His final act of service was the donation of his vital organs, a gift that will help many others live longer lives.
Ryan is survived by his loving family: his mother, Nicole Weston, father Eric Weston, and brothers Darren Weston, Jason Weston, and Ben Weston. He is also remembered by his grandparents, Nanette and Harold Meckler, and Jana Stransky.
Ryan's life was marked by a commitment to excellence and service, leaving a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. His kindness, love of music, and constant pursuit of learning and acting on new experiences including recently taking on an assistant XC coaching position at a local school to support others in their love of running, will always be remembered by all of those who loved him.
