Joseph Robert Atlas

Joseph Robert Atlas, 29, of Goodyear, Arizona, passed away on July 14, 2026. Born December 13, 1996, in Reno, Nevada, Joey grew up in Goodyear, moved to Flagstaff to attend Northern Arizona University, and lived in several areas before returning to Goodyear, where he settled just four blocks from his brother, father, and grandmother.

Joey graduated from NAU in December 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. He went on to work as a full stack software developer, a career that reflected his lifelong love of computers, electronics, and technology. He had a passion for the outdoors and could often be found mountain biking or hunting. He was a talented electric guitar player, an avid PC gamer, and took pride in cooking and smoking meats for the people around him. Whatever Joey did, he did it with his whole heart. He was a deeply compassionate and loving person who left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Joey is survived by his loving girlfriend of five years, Celina “Cee” Schumpe, and their dog Kalypso (Kaly); his mother, Sheryl Bedatsky; his father, Robert Atlas; his brother, Jonathan “Jon” Atlas; and his grandmother, Maria “Nana” Hammond.

Joey’s warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be carried by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was loved beyond measure and will be missed beyond words.
