Katherine C. Vidger

Katy was born on June 8, 1942, in Osmond, Nebraska, to Palmer J. Petersen and Marie Florence Petersen. She was the fourth of five children. Her early years were spent in Nebraska, including time on a farm near Pierce, before her family later moved to a farm outside of Breckenridge, Minnesota.

She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1960 and went on to attend North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, graduating in 1962.

Katy met her beloved husband, Vincent H. Vidger Sr., in a simple and memorable way while the two were collecting their mail at the same time, striking up a conversation that would begin a lifetime together. They shared many years of marriage until Vincent’s passing, which preceded Katy in death.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, known for her quiet strength, kindness, and enduring love for her family.

Katy is survived by her sons, Paul A. (Teresa) Vidger and Vincent H. (Dorice) Vidger Jr.; her sister, Kristin M. Anderson; her brother, Kenneth Petersen; and her grandchildren, Brooke Vidger, Cordon Vidger, Alexandra Vidger, Natasha Vidger, Tatiana Vidger, Anastasia Madison; great-grandchildren, Theodore Fricke and Finley Heart; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent H. Vidger Sr., and her parents.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 25 at 1:00 PM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, located at 13720 W. Thomas Road, Avondale, Arizona 85392.

Memorials to Hospice of the Valley would be appreciated.
