Kenneth Michael “Mike” Bearden, 73, zoomed off into the next chapter of his journey on March 11, 2025, in Goodyear, AZ. Born in Searcy, AR, on October 21, 1951, Mike was known for his love of the open road—preferably on two wheels. He went to the University of Central Arkansas and spent little time studying, instead focusing on courting the love of his life, Elizabeth “Liz” Bearden. Eventually, Mike’s antics and charm won her over – he proposed at Tommy’s Kingburger in Batesville and they were married on June 26, 1971.
Mike’s distinguished career in the United States Air Force took him all over the world, including a memorable assignment in Bitburg, Germany, where he forged lifelong friendships and left a lasting impact. Mike was later assigned to Luke Air Force Base and his family made their home in Phoenix, AZ. After retiring from the Air Force, Mike transitioned to a successful career working for various Aerospace contractors, managing hardware and software development programs used to train the United States Air Force warfighters. He was known as a wise and kind leader, always ready to offer sage advice or brighten someone’s day with a good joke.
Whether it was taking his Camaro for a spin or teaching his grandsons how to ride dirtbikes, Mike always found joy in the simple things. He could often be found napping on the floor after a long day of adventure, enjoying a cold beer or tequila with friends, or just spending time with the family that he cherished. He had an uncanny ability to make everything fun —especially when it involved revving up an engine. Mike was a man who lived with integrity, humility, and a deep love for his family. He will be remembered for his warmth, his sense of humor, and his dedication and loyalty to both his country and those he loved.
Mike is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Bearden; his children, Joshua Bearden (Anna), Matthew LeBaron (Tina), Jesse Bearden (Samantha), and Miranda Gomez (Andrew); his parents, Luther and Adelene Bearden; his siblings, Rick Bearden, Tim Bearden, and Brenda Bearden; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and friends he considered family. He was a devoted grandfather, father, uncle, brother, son, and husband. He’ll be missed by all who knew him, especially those who had the pleasure of riding along in his adventures, whether they were on two wheels or four.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a ride in his honor—preferably on a motorcycle.
