On June 3, 2024 Laura Hylden Aas Hopkins passed away in Goodyear, Arizona at the age of 71. Born in Minot, North Dakota as the second eldest daughter of four to John and Dolores Aas, Laura led a full life dedicated to helping others and raising her two children, Ian and Nicole. Early in life Laura knew that she wanted to help others and became a nurse, spending nearly fifty years in the field. Starting as an RN at the Rugby hospital, Laura earned her Master’s degree in nursing from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, Minnesota and finished her career as a director of nursing, helping on the front lines during Covid. Beyond her career, Laura lived life to its fullest with her “never say no” mantra, always finding time to enjoy a concert with friends, taking family vacations, and visiting friends across the country. In 2021 she got to say “goodbye” to the snow and “hello!” to the sun as she retired in Goodyear, Arizona. She found a community that was perfect for how she wanted to live out retirement; playing cards and hosting friends and family when they needed to escape from the snowy north. Though she was taken from us too soon, her impact will live on forever in the lives she has touched. Laura is predeceased by her mother and father, Dolores and John Aas. Laura is survived by her two children, Ian Hopkins and Nicole Hopkins and her three sisters Mary Jo Welch (Les), Kristen Galbreath (Randy), and Sara Parke (Ken).
