

Leon Scott Woodard, age 58, of Litchfield Park, Arizona, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025. He was a dedicated husband, father, coach, and friend. Leon’s warm and joyful spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. Known for his ever-present smile and his infectious enthusiasm, he was a person who always found a reason to be happy, no matter the circumstances.
Leon’s love for life extended into many areas. He was deeply involved in his community and was a member of several clubs, where his positive influence was always felt. A passionate coach, Leon dedicated many years to guiding and mentoring youth sports teams, sharing life lessons with the children he coached, and instilling in them the importance of determination and teamwork. His ability to balance hard work with fun made him a beloved figure among players and their families.
An avid supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, Leon was never far from a game, always ready to cheer on his team with unwavering loyalty. He also had a deep love for cars, particularly his Corvette, which he cherished both as a passion and a project. Whether he was working on it or taking it for a drive, those moments brought him joy and peace.
When he wasn’t behind the wheel or watching football, Leon enjoyed relaxing with a good video game, savoring a cigar, or indulging in his favorite treat: chocolate chip cookies. His love of life’s simple pleasures brought him comfort and happiness, and he shared that with everyone around him.
Leon had a long and distinguished career in the United States Air Force, serving with honor for 27 years. As a Master Sergeant, he earned the respect of his peers through his unwavering commitment and dedication to his country. His time in the military not only instilled in him a profound love for his nation but also shaped him into the determined and strong man his family and friends admired.
Leon is survived by his beloved family and many friends who will miss his laughter, wisdom, and kindness. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, resilience, and the important life lessons he taught to those fortunate enough to know him.
There will be a visitation on Monday, February 10 at 10 AM at Skyway Church, 14900 W. Van Buren St., Goodyear, AZ. before his funeral at 11 AM, also at Skyway Church. Pastor Sam Holliday will be officiating.
A procession will follow his service to the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona for his committal at 2:00 PM.
In keeping with his military service, Leon will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, where he will receive full military honors, including an aerial salute. His service to his country was an integral part of who he was, and his legacy of strength, loyalty, and dedication will live on.
