Len grew up in California and was a die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan. Football was his passion and a lifelong love. He graduated from Jesuit High School in 1969, where he played offensive tackle. He continued playing football at the University of San Francisco on a full athletic scholarship, playing both offensive and defensive tackle, until an on-field injury abruptly ended his playing career.
Following college, Len attended UC Davis Medical School, where he earned his medical degree and began a long and rewarding career as a board-certified OB/GYN. Over the years, he delivered approximately 5,000 babies, helping bring countless new lives into the world.
In 1990, Len met and married Ronni, the love of his life and his devoted wife for more than 36 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, friendship, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Len’s medical career took him to Kennewick, Washington, where he practiced medicine and served as chair of several departments at Kennewick General Hospital. During those years, he also fulfilled two milestone-birthday bucket-list dreams by playing in Pro-Am golf tournaments.
After retiring from medical practice, Len continued his professional journey by furthering his education and becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians. He worked with Accretive Health, providing Medicare review and appeals services for hospitals. He later served as a commissioner for the Kennewick Public Hospital District before moving to the active PebbleCreek Retirement Community in Goodyear, Arizona.
Throughout his life, Len faced numerous health challenges with remarkable strength and courage. He never lost his sense of humor and rarely uttered a complaint. His resilience, kindness, and ability to find joy despite life’s difficulties inspired all who knew and loved him.
Len is survived by his beloved wife, Ronni; his brother, Peter (Lorna) Dreisbach; his daughter, Susan (Michael) Silver; his sons, David (Krystal) Dreisbach and Max (Sally) Dreisbach; his cherished grandchildren, Clara, Ashe, Rachel, and Richard; his brother-in-law, Jeffrey (Valerie) Sokol; his nephew, Steven; his niece, Jennifer; and many very special friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Len will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his profession, his unwavering loyalty to his beloved 49ers, his wonderful sense of humor, and the strength with which he lived his life. Above all, he will be deeply missed by the many people who loved him.
A private celebration of life with family will be held in January.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Len’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
