Daniel R. Lewis, Sr. of Buckeye, Arizona passed away September 2, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. He was born May 14, 1956 in Phoenix, Arizona to Jess and Perley Lewis. He was preceded in death by both parents, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dan was raised in the Tolleson/Cashion area where he attended high school. He joined the Air Force in 1976, and was stationed in Hawaii and Ohio. He later returned to the Phoenix area and became a Geotechnical Engineer. He also owned a water trucking company, where he became known as “H20 Dan”. He enjoyed spending his free time in the outdoors with horses.
Dan is survived by his wife, Cheryn Lewis; daughter, Jennifer Lewis; son, Daniel Lewis, Jr. (Lynn); step-daughter, Jenna Bloom (Jared); step-sons, Jasen Gillespie (Shannon), Chad Gillespie, and Christopher Watchous; and his brothers, Kenneth Lewis (Mary Ann) and Theodore Lewis (Becky). He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Mason Dyrcz, Logan Lewis, Caleb Gillespie, Trystan Lewis, Brody Bloom, Tate Lewis, Logan Bloom, and Isabella Bloom; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix, Arizona.
