Lois Regina (Goedde) Truman, 100, was born June 19, 1911 in Meade County, SD to Mary L. (Clute) and Anton T. Goedde, and died November 18, 2011 in Goodyear, AZ. Lois was born in a sod house on the plains in Meade County, SD. Her family moved to Butte, NE where she and her sister and three brothers were raised on a farm. She graduated from Butte High School and went on to Normal School for training to be a teacher. She later married George E. Truman. They lived in Phoenix, AZ for several years before moving to Washington state, and then to Oregon. Lois and George traveled extensively in the United States, and also lived in Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas. George preceded her in death in 1992. Lois is survived by her youngest brother Floyd Goedde (Idaho) and her four daughters: Darlene Mae Herring (Fred)-Sun Lakes, AZ, Marvelle Faye Smith (Bob)-Grand Junction, CO, Veda Kay Schneider (George Lamb)-Apache Junction, AZ, and Lovetta Rae Henry-Goodyear, AZ. She had 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 21 great-great grandchildren. Lois spent her last 4 years residing at Palm Valley Rehabilitation and Care Center in Goodyear. We, her family, would like to give special thanks for the loving care she received from all who worked there over the years. And also to Hospice Inspiris for her very special care in her final days.
