Born in 1932 to Charles and Jessie Waugh in Buffalo, Wyoming, Diane was a vivacious and happy daughter. She was an avid pianist and performer her whole life. A Jobs Daughter princess, she went away to college to study piano and
music.
There she met a veteran/student Carl McManis, who was trying to sell bedspreads and curtains at the dorm. A romance ensued and they married, and remained so until Carl’s passing in 2013.
During their long marriage they had three children and lived in many places as Carl pursued a successful career in sporting goods. Carl and Diane travelled the world, especially Asia during their marriage.
Diane was a devoted wife and mother, but her talents were many. She was an amateur actress and director of note, and also an avid writer. At her home in Arizona she taught a class in writing memoirs that was always well attended and helped many people preserve their stories. She was also known for her love of
music, piano and dancing.
Diane is survived by her daughter, Deanne (Debbie Ann), and her sons, Michael and Samuel. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren, Chris, Cass, Cormac, Maggie, and Carl Jr. She is preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Jesse McManis. Delightfully, she got to also meet and hold her only great
granddaughter, Finley.
Diane and Carl will be laid to rest in Buffalo, Wyoming.
