Mo, as she was known to her many friends in Arizona, was born on August 2, 1950 in Jamestown, North Dakota and at the age of 2 years moved with her family to Marysville California. She graduated from Marysville High School and later became a licensed Cosmetologist.
After retirement in 2001, Mo and her husband, Richard, moved to Goodyear Arizona and very quickly became active in the PebbleCreek community. As a vital member of the community, she served as a Kare Bears Coordinator and driver in the Kare Bears transportation program assisting others needing help. Mo was also involved as a leader with the Good Time Gals, Tri T’s, Red Hat Pack with Hat’titude Society, PebbleCreek Unit 27 Representative and volunteered as a PebbleCreek Usher. She was also energetically involved with the PebbleCreek Bowling League, Wine Club, Bocce League, Tri-City Bowling League, Pickle Ball and numerous PebbleCreek card groups. In her spare time Mo was always available to give rides to PebbleCreek residents to and from the Phoenix airport. Mo was a former member of the PebbleCreek Women's Softball League, Hiking Club and Ladies Social Club. She also hosted annually, a dinner in her home for all the participants in the Senior Olympics. Mo was a bright shining star at every event she attended and was always willing to help with any activities these organizations took on.
Mo was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her parents Lee & LaJune King,
and one brother, Sid King. She is survived by her fiancé and life mate Mike Hanzlick, brother Jim King, step-daughter Kristi Azar, nieces Christina King, Jennifer King, Sarah King and Jessica King , nephew Zak King and numerous cousins and very close friends.
Helen Keller said “the best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.” Mo was the best example of this truism. She embraced everyone she ever met directly from her heart. As a result she lived each day to the full extent possible and truly enjoyed life. We will miss you Mo.
A celebration of Mo’s life will be held on April 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Eagle's Nest Ballroom, 3645 Clubhouse Dr., Goodyear, AZ. Memorials may be sent to the Kare Bears, c/o Laura Measles, 15383 W. Cheery Lynn Rd., Goodyear, AZ 85395 or to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
