She was born September 14, 1944 in Glendale, AZ to Ysidro Jr. and Angelita Gutierrez. She attended OLPH Catholic Church in Glendale and graduated from Peoria High School in 1962. She married and moved to San Jose, CA where she earned a BA degree in Elementary Education in 1976, and a Master’s Degree from Cal State San Bernardino. She taught for 25 years in Southern California. She was the first bilingual teacher in the Val Verde Unified School District. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Perris, CA, where she taught Religious Education, R.C.I.A., was head of the Fellowship of Catholic Christian Women, and was a Eucharistic Minister. She had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother, consistently praying the rosary, and had a personal side ministry hand making thousands of rosaries for the benefit of others. Upon retiring she continued her interest in education, tutoring and substituting until her illness would no longer permit her.
She is survived by her husband Pete C. Reynoso Jr., son Pete G. Reynoso III, Perris, CA, daughters Alicia R. Curiel, Amarillo, TX, Angelica Lucia Flores, Moreno Valley, CA, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers and 3 sisters; Ysidro, Ricardo, Carlos, and John Gutierrez and MaryLou Ortega, Angie Carrasco, and Margie Castelamare. She was preceded in death by her parents Ysidro Jr. and Angelita Gutierrez.
The rosary for Monica will begin at 9:30am Tuesday, October 25, with visitation to follow until 11:00am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 512 N. 93rd Ave., Tolleson, AZ 85353. The mass will begin at 11:00am. Burial will be private.
